What's in my gym bag?

Now that Easters over, and I've eaten just about all the chocolate I could eat, it's time for me to get back into exercising.

I've gotten off track (for longer than I'd care to admit) when it comes to fitness, but there was a time when I would exercise and go to the gym a lot. I want to make sure my gym bag is stocked with my favorite work out gear to make it easier for me to enjoy starting up again.

1. THE BAG

I got this Lululemon bag for Christmas a few years ago and I fell in love with it immediately. I own a few other bags from Lululemon as well, and I love them all. I used to think it was ridiculous how expensive these bags are, but they really are great. They have pockets for EVERYTHING and will probably last me a lifetime!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

2. THE BRA

I've been blessed with a larger chest. I have tried countless sports bra's to keep the girls where they need to be during a workout, and this is the only one I've found to do that. They have a newer style now then the one I got a few years back. The colors and patterns are great and I'm definitely going to need to pick up another one! This bra is so comfortable and so breathable. They're measured by your actual bra size as well, so that helps a lot. I find it to be a pain when buying other brands of sports bras, I have to buy a smaller size because my band size is smaller, but then the cup size doesn't fit me. Seriously, what's that all about?!

3. THE TOP

I'm also really in love with Under Armour tops. They are SO SOFT and comfortable. I'm not a fan of workout clothes that are skin tight, so I love these. They fit nice and loose on my body, but not loose enough that they would be showing all parts of me that I don't want to be showing when I'm doing a more aggressive workout. They also have a really nice selection of tank tops too, which I love.

4. THE PANTS

I really hate shopping for pants, especially workout pants. I have a short torso, so 95% of my workout bottoms tend to be too low in the back when I'm doing squats, lunges, or anything that requires me to bend over. SUPER AWESOME *sarcastic eye roll* These capri pants have saved my life. I even bought them in 3 different colors. The price is decent and the quality is great!

5. THE ARMBAND

I need my jams when I exercise. There are some songs on my playlist that just make me run faster! Sometimes the music they play at the gym is alright, other times it's absolutely horrid. Before I would stash my phone in my bra (don't do that), but now I use this beauty. I bought it on amazon one day when I was in the mood to spend money and get mail, and it turned out to be an awesome purchase. The quality isn't top notch - you get what you pay for, but it does what I need it to do and it's purple. That's a double win in my book. For the work I do with free weights, going on the elliptical, and even doing sprints on the treadmill, I'll use this. I'm not so sure if I'd use it if I'm doing lots of crazy vigorous exercises, but I also didn't use my other, more expensive, armband during those exercises either.

Those are just my basic gym bag necessities. I cram my bag full of lots of other stuff too, but that'll be for another post :)

My 5 favorite apps

I'm not going to lie, I can't survive without my phone. Whenever I forget my phone at home I feel like one of my limbs is missing. I have everything on there and it's so easy to access. It's replaced my address book, my planner, my digital camera, my alarm clock....my phone does EVERYTHING!

There are many others like me, who needs this piece of technology to get through the day. Below I've listed 5 FREE apps that are a necessity to me. Of course, these aren't the only ones that I love, but without them, I'd be lost.

There are many others like me, who needs this piece of technology to get through the day. Below I've listed 5 FREE apps that are a necessity to me. If you're looking for apps to download on your smartphone, these are them.

Sol Calendar

Sol Calendar

This is my all time favorite calendar app. I think it's adorable, and it syncs everything together, and has a useful widget as well.
I searched the internet far and wide to find a good calendar widget for my Android. It's important to me that I have everything visible right on my phone and don't have to go searching inside an app. Not only does Sol Calendar have an attractive widget, I can also sync up all my calendars and my to-dos into one place. It can sync my Google calendar and tasks, Outlook calendar and tasks, Wunderlist tasks, and more. You can customize your tasks and appointments with cute little stickers as well, which is a plus!

Wunderlist

Wunderlist

This is another app that keeps me organized. I'm one of those people that would forget their head if it wasn't attached. With Wunderlist I can make lists FOR ANYTHING and set reminders for everything on my list. If I have to pay a bill, or pick up milk, I add it to a list and set a reminder to be sure I don't forget. It also has a really simple Android Widget!
The best thing about this app is that I can sync it on my phone, tablet, and desktop! I have what I need anywhere I go.

iOS

Google Photos

Google Photos

This app is a huge storage saver for me. One of the reasons I made the switch from an iPhone to an Android phone was because of storage. I didn't want to shell out the expense for an iPhone with more storage when I could just buy an Android phone and add an SD card to it to add more storage. If I had researched this more I might not have made the switch in the first place (although I'm happy I did - and also with my new Android phone I can't add an SD card anymore *sad face*). Having some place to upload my photos - JUST MY PHOTOS - is really helpful. This app provides unlimited high quality photo storage, I can search keywords on my photos, edit them quickly, and share them with friends and family. It's also really helpful because I use google for everything, so it just makes it that much more appealing to me.

theBerry

Update: theBerry no longer has a smartphone app, however, I've added a shortcut to their website www.theberry.com on my homescreen so I can still visit it daily.

theBerry

This is a must have app for me when I have some time to waste. If you haven't heard of theBerry, you're missing out BIG TIME. All I really have to say is, Shirtless Friday! Just get the app. Enough said ;)

Flipp

Flipp

This is a flyer and coupon app that saves you some time. You can view all flyers in your area in once place, get coupons, and even coupon MATCH. They show you how to get the best savings by telling you where the best deals are and what coupons you can use with those deals to save even more money. Who doesn't like to save money? You can even make a shopping list from this app, and 'clip' deals in each flyer to make them easier to reference when you're shopping or making your grocery list.

I try and discover new apps to use often, so you might see another list coming soon!
